Antonia Dias Leite, b. 1980, Rio de Janeiro.

Antonia is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice spans photography, video, sculpture and sound. Fluctuating between the familiar and the strange, she is drawn towards symbolism, dream states and openness to associations; exploring possible connections between diverse references from psychology, mythology, erotism, biology and social dynamics.

Dias Leite studied Social Sciences and Philosophy in Rio in the late 90s; moving to New York in 2001, she graduated from Parsons School of Design and worked as art director in an NY-based design studio. In 2009 she received her master's degree in photography and video from the School of Visual Arts NY with Vik Muniz as her thesis advisor. Her work was published in Vogue Italia and The New York Times, where Roberta Smith called it “mesmerizing".

International exhibitions include: Beijing Biennale (Beijing), New York (Stephan Stoyannov Gallery), Berlin (Grimmuseum), Clermont-Ferrand (Videoformes Festival), Milan (Arte in Sarpi Festival), São Paulo (Galeria Leme) and Rio de Janeiro (Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, Museu Paço Imperial and Galeria Anita Schwartz).
