Antonia Dias Leite, b. 1980, Rio de Janeiro.
Antonia is drawn towards the uncanny. Working with symbolic elements and often portraying herself, she imagines peculiar new worlds that explore dream states, memory and perception.
Dias Leite studied Social Sciences and Philosophy in Rio in the late 90s; moving to New York in 2001, she graduated from Parsons School of Design and worked as art director in an NY-based design studio. In 2009 she received her master's degree in photography and video from the School of Visual Arts NY with Vik Muniz as her thesis advisor. Her work was published in Vogue Italia and The New York Times, where Roberta Smith called it “mesmerizing".
