Antonia Dias Leite, b. 1980, Rio de Janeiro.
Antonia is a video artist and photographer based in Rio. Fascinated by time, symbols and perception, her work revolves around the mind-body-nature relationship, echoing onto cultural issues related to sexuality and other subconscious drives.
Dias Leite studied Social Sciences and Philosophy in Rio in the late 90s; moving to New York in 2001, she graduated from Parsons School of Design and worked as art director in an NY-based design studio. In 2009 she received her master's degree in photography and video from the School of Visual Arts NY with Vik Muniz as her thesis advisor. Her work was published in Vogue Italia and The New York Times, where Roberta Smith called it “mesmerizing".
International exhibitions include: Beijing Biennale (Beijing), New York (Stephan Stoyannov Gallery), Berlin (Grimmuseum), Clermont-Ferrand (Videoformes Festival), Milan (Arte in Sarpi Festival), São Paulo (Galeria Leme) and Rio de Janeiro (Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil and Museu Paço Imperial).
